Help with compressing, comparing, and saving images in PhotoCompact.

Choose an image

Tap Choose Image, then choose Photo Library or Browse Files. You can also paste or drop an image. PhotoCompact processes one image at a time, up to 30 MB and 25 megapixels.

JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and HEIC are supported within the app's format limits. Images stored in iCloud may need an internet connection to download.

Make a smaller file

Open Export Settings. JPEG is a good starting point for photos. Lower Quality, choose a Target Size, or turn on Resize to reduce the dimensions while keeping the original proportions.

Some images are already well compressed. The app shows a warning if the result is larger than the original or exceeds your target. Your original stays unchanged.

Reset the comparison view

Tap Fit to center the entire image and reset the displayed zoom to 100%. The − and + buttons zoom relative to that fitted view. The 1:1 button shows actual image pixels, so its percentage may differ.

Drag the center divider to compare the original and compressed image. Pinch to zoom or open Comparison Controls for button and slider alternatives.

Save to Photos

Tap Save to Photos and allow PhotoCompact to add photos. A new copy is saved; the original is not replaced. If saving fails, check photo access in iOS Settings and available device storage, then try again.

JPEG and PNG keep their selected format. If you choose WebP, the button says Save PNG to Photos: a full-resolution PNG copy is saved, and its size may differ from the WebP result shown in the app.

Ads and privacy in version 1.1

Version 1.1 remains free and may show an ad before saving. Close the ad to continue. If no ad is available, saving proceeds directly. Open Help → Privacy & App Improvements → Ad Privacy Choices where required to review your ad choices. These are separate from the optional Firebase switches. Version 1.0 has no ads.

Read the version 1.1 privacy policy. To report an inappropriate ad, use Report an Ad in Help or email support.

HDR and animated images

Supported HDR photos are converted to standard brightness. If a format cannot be converted reliably, choose a standard-brightness version. Animated images use their first complete frame; Live Photos use the still image provided by the system.

Contact support

Email kim.jc.ren@gmail.com for help with PhotoCompact.

Please include your app version, iPhone model, iOS version, and the message or steps that led to the issue. You do not need to send personal photos. If a sample is needed, use a non-sensitive image.

Optional app improvements

Crash Reports, Usage Statistics, and Updated Default Settings are separate choices, off by default. Open Help → Privacy & App Improvements to manage them. Images are still processed on your device. See the privacy policy for your version: 1.0 or 1.1.
